The Consortium of Pain and Palliative Care Units in Ernakulam, is proud to invite you to ‘KOCHIPALLCON’, XV International Conference of Indian Association of Palliative Care, 8th -10th February 2008, Kochi, Kerala, India.
A Pre-conference CME on Palliative Care for un-initiated medical professionals as well as laypersons will be held on 7th February 2008.
The theme of the conference is “Quality and Coverage”. The conference shall focus on setting uniform and high standards of quality in palliative care delivery and training, while trying to achieve good coverage through out the country.
Palliative care being still in its infancy in the country, perhaps it is an opportune time to deliberate upon this issue.
Kochi “Queen of the Arabian Sea” is conveniently located in the centre of Kerala. Kochi is well connected through International Airport, Sea Port, Railway and Bus Stations, hence convenient to travel.
Kerala, “God’s Own Country” is a narrow strip of land located on the southwestern edge of the Indian subcontinent, wedged between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. Rated as one of the 10 MUST SEE destinations in the world, legend says that Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, threw his axe into the sea from Gokarnam (near present day Mangalore) and the sea retreated from where his axe fell to form the land of kerala. The Geologists however are of the view that Kerala was formed much later than the rest of the subcontinent. Submarine earth movements probably pushed up the land between the curve of the Western Ghats to form this beautiful land. Every piece of this land is a traveller’s delight.
